In our country, the incidence of early infectious syphilis was decreased markedly since 1955. However, since 1980, early infectious syphilis has re-emerged and its morbidity rate has continued to rise over the years in some regions. Influence of the use of cotraceptives and intra-uterine devices on human sexual behaviour was factors of importance in the spread of syphilis. In recent literature an increase in occurrence of atypicl primary and secondary syphilis, e.g. multiple chancres, higher frequency of ulcus durum than initial sclerosis and pruritus, were mentioned. Clinicians schould observe patients with syphilis verry carefully
